Follow along as BaseMap Ambassador, Richard Peeples chases antelope in Nebraska.
This was my first ever antelope hunt and I was going to hunt them spot and stalk with a bow. I had done a lot of research and watched videos on hunting them to gain as much knowledge as I could about antelope tendencies and how they lived in the open terrain. I decided to go in late September when the rut was at its peak to try and find bucks with doe groups and figured I would get in as close as I can and then challenge them if I couldn’t get closer with decoys. After blown stalk attempts after attempt the first 4 days I finally was able to get within range on a feeding buck and put a great shot on him at 75 yards. The buck ran down a drainage about 100 yards and out of sight. After a half hour we started to make are way down the drainage and found the buck piled up right were we lost sight of him. This way a trying hunt and basically boiled down to how bad we wanted it and just the “Persistence” to keep going and that if we did it the right way and with a never give up attitude we would be rewarded and on day 5 it all came together for us.
