Nov 2, 2021 What an amazing Big Illinois crossbow buck & land management success! Join me today for another great Big Illinois buck hunt from our Southern Illinois hunting land/Southern Illinois farm. In today's episode we will cover a lot of ground, and it will all culminate with the harvest of this beautiful Big Illinois buck, an old warrior buck for sure, that I believe to be at least 5 years old. I passed this buck last year a couple of times on our Illinois land, and this year he is even bigger than last year, but still a 7 point. Join me as I go through some of the land management things that I did in advance to help this all happen, and retrace the history of this fall food plot for deer that I ended up replanting very late in the season because my first fall food plot planting did not do so well! This was only my 3rd hunt this season, as I strongly believe in hunting smarter, and not harder. I had some good intel on this buck, some great trail camera videos, cellular trail cam pictures and our own observations and video of this buck in our house food plot. The most recent intel (aka MRI) was a cellular trail cam picture from my Tactacam cellular trail camera the night before this hunt. After all of this intel I decided it was time to hit the deer towers! My buddy Phil was also hunting with me on this hunt, but he was in another Banks deer tower blind that was just a few hundred yards south of my home made deer tower. I was hoping that he would get the experience of seeing several bucks and maybe getting a crack at one that would be his biggest buck, because where he has been hunting for decades has not produced many nice bucks at all due to a lot more hunting pressure.
