With the amount of electronics, stereos, livewells, lighting and other gadgets that require power on our boats these days, it's easy to quickly drain your battery to the point that it may not start your motor. One way to prevent this from happening is the crank the big motor and let it add a 'top-off' charge to the battery system. If you're fishing, it probably won't dramatically or adversely affect the bite. In fact, it may actually turn the bite back on as the noise and bubbles created by the motor will cause curious gamefish to come check out what's going on.
