First in a series on places to hunt wild birds on public land ... from over 30 years traveling 26 states in pursuit of wild birds.
Why? Hunters are the first - and biggest - force in conservation. Our gun, ammo, bow and arrow purchases fund virtually all habitat and wildlife management. If hunting is to survive so your grandchildren can experience the magic we do, or if we're to keep people hunting, we've got to help them find new places to hunt ... so they'll continue to buy guns and ammo.
Don't get your undies in a wad. I won't share any place that's not already "discovered," or your secret spot, but I will share places that can stand a little more pressure. Never will there be a lat/long or specific honey holes ... you gotta earn them! But here's your starting point.
