This episode of Seek and Find TV, step by step guide on how to clean your turkey harvest, is a quick, informative clip on how we cleaned, or field dressed our wild turkey we harvested earlier that day. We found, while cleaning the turkey, a fresh wound under one of his thighs. At first glance it looked like the turkey possibly had a fight with another Tom, but while cutting out the turkey breast on that side, we found a different type of bb in the turkey breast. It now appeared that the wound was from the turkey getting shot recently (turkey season had just opened up about a week prior to killing this bird). From the angle and position of the shot, the only way it could have hit there is if the turkey was shot while still roosted in a tree. To watch the story of the harvest of this turkey, click this link: https://youtu.be/pkZyts7FLMk After cutting the breasts out of the turkey, we cut the feathers out, or the turkey fan, as well as the turkey legs, a section of the turkey wings to create a fly down for our turkey vest, and the turkey's beard. We also show you how to preserve your turkey fan by pouring Borax powder on it. While the turkey fan is still fresh, position the fan how you would like it to sit on a piece of cardboard, pin it to the cardboard, and cover it with Borax. Let sit for several days so the meat will dry up and the turkey feathers will harden into place. We made an episode over on Bearded Outdoors USA on a beautiful turkey mount we did.
